Location: Montgomery Town Hall
Monty Lit Fest promises a weekend full of literary delights in the charming town of Montgomery. The programme has something for everyone – from crime fiction and rock music to palaeontology, poetry, farming, and nature – plus the ever-popular big quiz night.
The whole town will be buzzing, with a poetry-themed art exhibition, lively buskers, musical performances, and delicious street food, alongside refreshments in the Town Hall. Book lovers can explore two fantastic Festival bookshops: Booka Books (in the Town Hall) and The Montgomery Bookshop just a short stroll away. Authors will be on hand to meet readers and sign books, making it a truly unmissable event for literary enthusiasts!

The Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show is a large one-day show in mid-Wales and always takes place on the second Saturday in June every year. Over 1,700 entries are expected and the competition is of a high standard. Visitors from all over Wales flock to the event including people from the agricultural industry, local communities and the general public.

The Llanfyllin Music Festival offers stunning chamber music concerts held at St Myllin’s Church across two weekends in July. The historic venue provides superb acoustics and a charming atmosphere, while “fringe” performances will take place at Llanfyllin Workhouse.

The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a music festival which takes place every year during the second week of July. The first Musical Eisteddfod was held in June 1947 and still continues to entertain all these years later.
The main competitions take place in the 4,000-seat Royal International Pavilion, and a parade is also held in the streets of Llangollen where everyone can take part. Llangollen is a lovely town with a range of fantastic pubs along the scenic River Dee for you to enjoy the evening afterwards.

The Welshpool Country Music Festival is a fundraising event for the Heulwen Trust and takes place over a relaxed music-filled weekend. Events on the showfield include line dancing, side shows, trade stands and plenty of refreshments.

Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau is a lively annual festival celebrating the best of folk, rock, and Welsh music, along with traditional dance, literature, comedy, and great food and drink. Spanning nine stages across the town, the event creates a vibrant atmosphere with performances, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities for budding musicians to busk on the Square.
Children can enjoy free story time, crafts, and circus skills in the ‘Pentre Plant’ area at Dolgellau Park, making it a fantastic day out for all ages.

This exciting four-day event showcases the Welsh rural community and the farming industry in a lively and diverse celebration of agricultural life and Welsh culture. With over 1000 trade displays and up to 7000 entries of livestock from the finest horses and cattle to pigs, sheep, goats and more, there is much to do and see and is consequently one of the biggest events in Mid Wales. This annual independent arts and music festival was founded back in 2003 and has been growing ever since. From its humble beginnings as a party in a field, this event has evolved into one of the best festivals in Europe with a massive capacity and zero corporate sponsorship with a focus on high-quality music and local suppliers.
This event is highly popular with both singles and families, those with young children can access dedicated family car parks and everything at the festival is within easy walking distance. Located in a beautiful region in Wales at the foot of the Black Mountains, there is plenty to do nearby.

Running for over 20 years, this walking festival introduces people to the lesser known areas of Southern Snowdonia. There are 3 walks each day and 2 evening social events throughout the week. The Abergavenny Food Festival was created back in 1999 by a pair of local farmers to promote locally produced food and goods. It has since grown into an annual event attracting more than 30,000 visitors to enjoy a genuine market experience in this Welsh medieval town. The festival is a must for avid chefs and food lovers with much to offer including a variety of activity programmes such as cookery lessons, master classes, children’s activities, product tastings the promotion of new ideas and the showcasing of rising stars.

Take a spooky trip down the Bala Lake Railway as far as the train is able go before disaster strikes and the crew are forced to turn back.
Beware as your train will be stopping at the little used and haunted Flag Halt on its return stopping briefly at the witches’ coven before returning to the safety of Llanuwchllyn.
Our stations are decorated and our staff/volunteers dress up for the occasion. Feel free to dress up for your visit as many of our visitors do.

Starting and ending in Welshpool Town Centre at 9am, this is a single lap 10K (6.2 mile) run passing Powis Castle. Quite a challenging, undulating route, but finishers are rewarded with a bespoke medal.

Wonderwool is the premier Wool and Natural Fibre Festival in Wales and is held every year in April on the Royal Welsh Showground.
Starting in 2006 to promote Welsh wool and fibre producers, the festival grows each year and covers the whole creative process. From exhibits of sheep, raw and hand-dyed fibres, yarn, embellishments, equipment, dyes and books all the way through to finished products, crafts, clothing, home furnishings and art.

The Caersws Vintage Rally showcases the very best of Welsh heritage including tractors, cars, commercial vehicles, motorbikes, stationary engines and more. This event is hosted by Mid-Wales Vintage Machinery Club Ltd and is one of the largest vintage displays in Mid-Wales. Held every year on Spring Bank Holiday, this is not to be missed.
